Melina Blanco is an artist, electronic music producer, and DJ from Costa Rica, based in Portugal.
Her interest in music began with film soundtracks and incidental music. She felt inspired to create her own music for audiovisual projects. Her first EP, “Lila” is focused on ambient music and soundscape. Other works in the following years, such as “I am empty”, “XU” and “Sentido” also focus on this type of music. In 2020, she published her second EP, “Éter”. It contains ambient and downtempo elements. In 2021, Melina collaborated with MADC (Museum of Contemporary Art and Design) creating music for a work by artist Patricia Belli.
In 2023, Melina founded a record label, Pollen Music. Based in Lisbon, it is focused on ambient, breaks and electronica. Its first release “Latir EP” was published in December 2023, showcasing music by producers and artists of the Costa Rican underground scene.
Melina is the co-founder of TMPL, a collective and record label that promotes techno events in Costa Rica's growing electronic music scene. Melina's role is mainly to manage the record label and curate music to be released.
As a DJ and live act, Melina has played and performed in clubs, galleries, and studios in America, Europe, the Middle East and Eurasia. As she is now based in Portugal, Melina has performed in venues in Lisbon and Porto, most recently at Sonica Ekrano festival, at the closing party by OUT.RA. cultural association.
